The Day Before
It’s the last day of shoot in KL today. Tomorrow we leave for Japan. We will be flying into Fukuoka and shooting in Miyazaki. I have no clue where this is, exactly; I need to find a map. This shoot is… umm… really interesting! For one thing, we don’t even know what we’re actually going to be doing until the actual shoot itself. The original script has been thrown out the window, and it is being rewritten as we shoot. Not entirely without direction though. The whole storyline has been outlined, but the actual words and actions have not. Until the actual moment of shoot, whereby the lights are all set up, camera ready to roll and then the director (Aziz M. Osman) starts writing out the script for the scene. And it’s been like this from day one. Hovering over a keyboard or a writing pad, Aziz tends to look like a mad scientist. But he is very creative. Thank god, for girlfriend’s with very bad english; my malay’s improved. Otherwise, receiving last minute scripts like this would’ve been the bane of my career a few years ago. In fact, right now I’m on location using one of the computers on set that has internet access to type all this. And I’ve just been handed the script for the next scene. :-) Gotta go learn my lines now. PS – I don’t know if I’ve got money to bring to Japan. How am going to do shopping?
