Stress, I tell you
Was in Australia. Sydney to be exact. One whole week. Was thinking of updating my diary while over there. Didn't. Never got around to it. :-) Weather was cold there. Spring sure is cold over there. I noticed while getting ready for the trip that I had not even used my (new) passport. I have not left the country for, I think, a full five years. Strange, considering half my life had been lived abroad. Comforting too. I'm home. Malaysia's where my heart is. It was quite an adventure to go though. I think that anything that could go wrong, went wrong. The whole purpose for my trip was to attend a business conference. First I thought I had lost my conference ticket. So there was a bit of a mad scramble to find it. Then I didn't know where I was going to get the money for the whole trip as I had over spent for the month. Four days before the trip my car craps out on me. Managed to destroy the crank shaft. *sigh* That's me. So I have to change engines, then I am informed that my transmission is shot to pieces and that needs to be replaced. Oh and don't forget the timing belt. Basically, I now have a new car with an old body. All that made a nice big dent in my already strained pockets. The night before the trip I double checked everything and discovered I've missplaced my visa papers. I was going in a group and all we had to do was give a photocopy of our passports to the organizer and then, later on, he gave us our itinerary with our visa stuck on it. That was what was missing. I stayed up the whole night searching for it. I was even outside ransacking the garbage at three in the morning, but to no avail. I decided to calm down by playing some PS2 and then make my way to the Australian High Com at 7am and see if I can pujuk some sense into them to give another visa. My flight leaves at 9pm the same day. My mum wakes up at five wondering what I'm doing. So I tell her. She then starts ransacking the house scolding me for being careless and playing PS2, bewildered by how nonchalant I seemed to be. I tell you, PS2 works! At seven, I drive. I decide to call my girlfriend, who's in Sabah, to mengadu. Cause I really didn't see how I could possibly go to Sydney now. And so much money had been spent. Luckily she's awake. I think sabahans like to do this "morning bird" thing. That's when I find out that my visa is in her apartment in Bangsar, and she's in Tawau, Sabah. Great. Amazingly, I got my visa back as her housemates had not yet gone to work when I called. Talk about frayed nerves by the end of the day. The rest of the day was quite uneventful. *sigh* *relief* The conference was superb, but that's a different story. Just started a shoot yesterday. "Saksi Terakhir."
