Misadventures
Sunday, May. 12, 2002 at 00:36

Had a bit of an adventure with Beq last Wednesday. Beq was in town for a couple of days and we decided to meet up. We were supposed to meet up after 1pm. I woke up at 1:30pm. I slept late. Was visiting with another online friend the night before. Poor Beq wasn’t sure if we were still meeting up or not as she kept calling while I was still asleep. Luckily, I woke up in time. We met up for makans and minums, but I was late. I had asked her for help on wanting to design my diary, as I don’t know how. I really didn’t think she was going to provide a whole manual on it, but she did. I was so flattered she took the time to painstakingly put together a thick manual for me. The size of it worried me though, but she pointed out which areas were important and pertinent to my needs. I guess the rest is just extra reading. I haven’t found the time yet to go through it though. As we were chatting, Mufid (a TV writer/producer/assistant director) stopped by with a new tele- movie script called “Maaf Mama”. Mufid’s so funny. He kept pleading that since he’s one of the first people to put me on TV and help propel my career and now that he’s freelancing and he has a small budget therefore I cannot be demanding with him. Kesian dia, so I agreed. Heh heh heh… but only for now. J. We then set up a production/script reading meeting for 11pm later that night. Shooting the next day and I just got the script. Beq and I continued chatting, talking about life and stuff, business and money. Then I had to rush off to Hotel Equatorial to get ready for the ‘Levi’s Best Jeanist Award’ at Nuovo. That’s when I discovered my car got towed! I tell you my life is always an adventure. I had parked illegally, so I deserved it. But I was staring at the empty space where my car was feeling numb. Not knowing what else to do, Beq and I started hunting for an MPAJ officer on their little Kapchais. We’d see a few in the distance, start walking towards them and, before we could reach them, they would ride off. See another one, walk in his direction and again he would ride off. For some reason, I was calm about the whole thing, although I think Beq was worried for me. Finally, we managed to catch up with one and, with a face so masam like he just swallowed a lemon, the officer wrote down for me where I needed to go to get my car back. Now, the Levi’s people were telling me to go straight to the hotel, but I wanted my car back. I was feeling ornery, so I decided to go get my car even though I was running late for my appointment at the hotel. Beq was kind enough to send me, but I had to drive as she gets lost in KL quite easily. The place where my car was kept is called ‘The Stor’ (or is it ‘Setor’). I was thinking that it would take a day or two to get my car. At least, though, I could get my clothing out that I needed for the show that night. But it’s amazing how being polite and money can solve problems. RM300 and I had my car back within half an hour. Beq and I said our goodbyes, and then it was off to the hotel. Late! Very late! Benji won the ‘Best Male Jeanist Award’ and I was very happy for him. Then it was off to the production meeting, which only started 12:30am and finished at 2:30am. My call time for “Secarik Wajah Rindu” the next day was 8:30am. 4pm for “Maaf Mama”.

Sleep… oh why do I neglect thee?
